Think about it – what is Seduction? It’s a mutually beneficial exchange between two people who find each other attractive. Attraction is sexy. How? Because to attract someone you have to get their attention. Seduction is a GREAT way to not only grab someone’s attention – but capture it for life.

Applying seduction to your marketing is the hottest way to market in this new media marketplace. Long before someone buys what you sell, they buy who YOU are. If you can create a compelling, attractive and engaging online persona, you’ll connect with Your Tribe.

Engage – Connect – Convert

That’s the cornerstone of marketing in the new millennium. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn are the tools that allow you to engage a tribe of like-minded followers.

Tribal Seduction is the ace up your sleeve… your secret, persuasive platform that will enable you to lead your tribe.

Sound intriguing? Be sure to join Coach Deb next Thursday for a special teleclass for Tribal Seduction members. (Who are Tribal Seduction Members? The ones who are subscribed to this blog.)

So the question in our minds must always be: “What’s on the horizon and how can I use that to get ahead of my competitors today?”

Thirty years ago, there was no internet. Five years ago YouTube was still just a dream. If you watched Biz Stone and Evan Williams on The View this morning, you’ll know that three years ago, Twitter didn’t tweet.

Today, we literally don’t have to leave our computers to book a flight, pay a bill, find a new home or even connect with our tribe of loyals.

The Internet, YouTube and Twitter are part of our daily lives.

No one could predict the impact each development would have. In fact Bill Gates famously admitted:

“Sometimes we do get taken by surprise. For example, when the Internet came along, we had it as a fifth or sixth priority. It wasn’t like somebody told me about it and I said, ‘I don’t know how to spell that.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’ve got that on my list, so I’m okay.’ But there came a point when we realized it was happening faster and was a much deeper phenomenon than had been recognized in our strategy.”

Don’t get taken by surprise!

When people see or hear your name, what instantly comes to their mind? Do you know? Do your clients know your niche/speciality and how you can help them best? If not – the time is now to get that laser focused message across in a big way for the new year. Who’s with me?

I thought it was easier to share my thoughts via video of a major distinction I made in 2008 that has catapulted me for going Big Time in ‘09. My wish for you is to make similar distinctions so you can go Big Time in ‘09!

I’ve met so many wonderful people this year on Twitter and all the different places I spoke throughout the year, that I wanted to set up something special for the followers/fans/friends who’ve asked me for a private coaching session to help them with their brand, their business and their goals.

Since I’m in the giving spirit – you get to take advantage of crazy low private coaching rates and grab them now before the New Year is up, and before the clock strikes midnight. I’m looking to Coach 12 phenomenal business women and a few good men who know 2009 is his/her year. If that’s you – you’ll especially love this video and this post, because you get the opportunity to lock up a consulting session (or two) at crazy holiday rates. (Yes, I’ll honor this special for current private coaching clients as well – since it’s a limited offer and time for these sessions.)

Normally I don’t do single 30-minute coaching sessions, but I’m in the holiday spirit, and wanted to give my followers what they’ve been asking for. So – you’ll find a quickie coaching session is available as an option along with a special 60 minute session rate, if you want to go long. I even included a special “6-pack” if you’re a heavy “success drinker“.

Grab these New Year Coaching specials now – before JP Micek discovers what I’ve done, and takes this post down!

NOTE: I can only meet with about 5-7 people from here to the new year, but you can still lock in the rate today, and then Deborah Carraro (our new business manager) will schedule your session for mid-late January – depending on when your order comes in. Just call her up after you’ve grabbed what you need using the links below and she’ll call you back when she’s in the office in the order the calls and orders are received.

Too many/few Tweets is least of concerns. ”

My first statement there got picked up and used by Ken Burbary in a post yesterday discussing unfollow tools and their impact: “Twitter: Unfollow me, it’s not personal.” Ken correctly touches on the fact that Twitter has a “culture.” But that point has much larger ramifications to the way you do business. In fact; emotions and interactions tangled up in “culture” is the entire basis for Tribal Marketing.

Unfollows will never hurt you, but beating yourself with sticks will break your business bones

“Twitter culture” is no different than any other human interaction, online in New Media or off-line face-to-face. People with jobs dabbling in Social and New Media to gain friends and “converse” can afford to get sucked into a never-ending downward spiral of narcissistic analysis.

But for entrepreneurs, marketers and business owners; analysis of this type without a benchmark or platform against which to judge reactions creates a self-imposed profit killing death sentence.

Contrary to what you’ve heard? Not surprising when most Social Media “experts are corporate refugees with a worker mindset, brainwashed to “get along” at all costs.

Here’s the danger in that “careful not to offend anyone” approach…

If business people begin altering their behavior, words and statements to avoid “unfollow sting”, the ramifications are no different than trying to fit into a high-school clique. Even if the group accepts you, you will always be the outsider… the poser. NOT a good position for an entrepreneur who is (or should be) looking to be seen as a knowledgeable leader.

To attract and retain a Tribe of raving fans (Loyals) means taking strong positions. The stronger your positions, the stronger the bond between you and your Tribe… and among the Tribe members themselves. It’s human nature that the mundane and the luke-warm are either ignored or spit out.

Only in politics every two years do “moderates” get any attention. And when we look at their actual numbers (average only 2% of voters via Battleground Poll for the last 10 years) — we see the fact that the vast majority of people DO have opinions. They just may not have the kahonas to state those thoughts.

The entrepreneurs and business people who take strong stands in their niche or industry, who make bold pronouncements for the benefit of their Tribe — they will get the respect, loyalty and patronage that people are waiting to shower on a true leader.

The question is not “too many or too few Tweets.” It is “do you know your Tribe?”

YOUR Tribe, YOUR Loyals — they are ALL that matter!

If you don’t know your Persuasive Selling Platform well enough to know what may have turned someone off, (and to know that, in many cases that unfollow is a good thing) — then any “tool” like Qwitter http://useqwitter.com/ that lets you know what words triggered an unfollow will only serve to further shake your confidence and throw you off track.

If you have your Loyals Profiles and Tribal Factor firmly established as two of the four foundation stones of your Persuasive Selling Platform, the ability to keep your focus allows you to be in total control of your emotions.

That control for you can mean ignoring, or even celebrating unfollows as you continue on a profitable path of New Media Marketing. But YOU are in control… not some tool or technology.

What’s your take?

How do unfollows on Twitter or friend drop-offs on FaceBook or MySpace impact you?

Do you just ignore those unfollows, or do you revel in the fact they’ve occurred?

How do you know when an unfollow is a good thing vs. a “learning opportunity”?

They are being lured into seductive social media communities, wooed by and caught up in the passion of these interactive environments. They without the right strategy, they invest hours of their time forgetting that the only tangible benefit (their database of friends or followers) is controlled by a 3rd party who can change the rules of the game at any time.

A perfect example is how most users of Twitter have had a rude awakening over the last 48-hours or so. They awoke yesterday to find their “following” and “followers” lists slashed in half… or more! Hundreds and even thousands of contacts gone! POOF!

Twitter’s explanation:

Poor excuse, but who’s to blame?

Twitter’s “spam” excuse is a poor one. I and several other people I know on Twitter personally visit the page of each new Follower as new requests come in. So to see several hundred followers disappear and have Twitter say they “spammers” is clearly BS.

That’s to be expected and nothing to get upset about. It’ a danger you should expect. Twitter can do and say anything they want. And so can any other Social Network. Any of them can change the rules of the game whenever they want. They can arbitrarily put caps on the number of followers or friends you can have. Even delete people from your list at their whim.

See, the problem is not with Twitter, Facebook, or any other “free” Social Networking channel. The blame rests with you if you leave it to these services to have control over your contact list. Harsh, but true.

Some people learn the hard way that Social Networks are merely communication channels, not storage facilities. Let’s help you avoid any hard lessons in the future.

Protecting yourself and safe-guarding your hard work

So how do you protect yourself from the painful loss of contacts and connections you’ve worked hard to gain from Social Networks? It’s simple!

Keep the focus on your New Media Marketing Hub!

Social Networks are ONLY channels to leverage. They are NOT to be trusted with your most valuable asset; your contacts. They are conduits through which you attract and connect — but the core of all your efforts, the home base for all your Tribe – must be your Hub!

Your New Media Marketing Hub is where the ever-upwardly spiraling Tribal Seduction ™ Action Trinity (Attract-Connect-Convert) yields the greatest long-term results.

Your New Media Marketing Hub is the Alpha and the Omega of ALL that you do online. It is what will grow and protect your Tribe, your business, and your bank account. Your Hub is the home where your love, passion and primary attention belongs. Not out on the streets of the Social Networking communities.

What a New Media Marketing Hub IS and IS NOT

Before we take a look at the 5 simple steps to maximizing the profit impact of your New Media Marketing Hub, let’s get clear on what a hub is and is not.

A New Media Marketing Hub is NOT a blog.

A blog helps with two parts of the Tribal Seduction? Action Triad: Attraction and Connection. Conversion cannot be done efficiently on a regular blog.

A New Media Marketing Hub is NOT a regular sales site.

This type of site may be optimized for Conversions, but no matter how well written the copy, no matter how persuasive the videos, no matter how shocking the offer is – it will fail miserably when it comes to the Attraction and Connection of the Action Triad. (And in many cases, this type of site works against you no matter how you send people there, even from your blog.)

A New Media Marketing Hub IS a single site that combines Attraction, Connection, and Conversion.

By having one central destination for your Tribe, the hard pitch can fall away. Instead, with a little bit of careful planning, application of Tribal Seduction principles and an understanding of human nature — you can strategically hide “pathways” to conversion that your Tribe will discover on their own.

These seemingly hidden pathways are a core component of Tribal Seduction mastery. When you leverage your Hub this way, people discover offerings on their own. And when you have automated persuasion triggers that are activated when they arrive on those particular pages – they own the decision. You are only there as the trusted provider, not hard-pushing salesperson.

When it’s done properly, no rapport is broken…
And even if you don’t make a sale, trust is actually increased!

More on this important Tribal Seduction principle in the future. But for now, suffice it to say that if you have people jumping around to different URLs, you will break rapport, lose sales… and most damaging of all – chip away trust!

How to keep a profitable perspective and make your “Hub” work for you

So how do you maximize the profit impact of your New Media Marketing Hub?

I’ve kept it real simple here and broken things down into 5 steps. Some require you to take action, other things happen auto-magically. And I’ve provided some images to help you envision how this would work for you.

Steps 1 and 2

In Step 1 you start at your hub with the creation of content that’s valuable to your Tribe. You choose a media format, post it and you’re off!

In Step 2, like the rays of the sun shining out across the sky; you begin to radiate additional sources of exposure for your new content. Some of these destinations you may have to actually take action yourself. (BLOGi360 members are lucky since most all of Step 2 is automated within the system as soon as they hit the “Save” button.)

Step 3

In Step 3 you (or one of your team) must go out and actively interact in the New Media channels available online. There is no cheating here. Step 3 requires personal interaction.

You don’t necessarily have to hit every one of these channels. Depending on your Tribe, your Communication Code™ and your Persuasive Selling Platform™ – the channels you use here can be pre-set. Or they can vary based on your content or the media used to share that content.

Step 4

This is an easy step because this is happening auto-magically for you behind the scenes. Whether you build and maintain a New Media Marketing Hub on your own, or put a BLOGi360 Hub to work for you – the key thing to focus on here is the automated service to your subscribers.

Streams of new visitors and traffic are great. But the most important people are your current subscribers and customers. The only way to build trust, rapport and deeper relationships with your Tribe (and turn them into raving fans,) is through repeated NON-sales contact.

When you’re leveraging your New Media Marketing Hub properly, you can see below in Step 4 how you’re getting BOTH new exposure and relationship reinforcement automatically. Something you can only do with a Hub.

Step 5

Once again, a drop-dead easy step – enjoying the fruits of your action. As your engagement radiates out from your Hub into the New Media Marketplace, the energy you put out returns back to your Hub in the form of tangible results.

Deeper relationships with current clients, more trust with new members of your Tribe, and new visitors – which you immediately focus on welcoming into your subscriber family.

Wrapping it up

We’ll expand more on the New Media Marketing Hub concept in the near future. But for now, use these charts and the Hub overview presented here to remind yourself of where your focus should always start and return to… no matter where you may roam in the New Media Marketplace.

Always be focused on executing the Tribal Seduction™ CHARM Formula™ and Action Trinity™.

And most important of all — persuasively, influentially and seductively — move people from interaction with you on social networks over to your New Media Marketing hub.

How can the New Media Marketing Hub concept help you?

- Have you gotten a new (or renewed) perspective on what you main goal is when marketing online?
- What profit or list building ideas have you gotten from the Hub concept?
- How will you change the way you spend your time, energy and resources marketing with New Media?
- Do you have some other ideas we didn’t cover here?

All New Media marketing channels. Services that are trying to topple the king of the micro-blogging hill — Twitter. But they’re all falling short. And understanding why they’re failing will help you attract, grow and protect your business — no matter whether you’re selling widgets in Peoria or downloads worldwide.

See — it’s not just the Twitter API or its coding that is insulating Twitter.

Nope! Far from it.

And it’s not all the cool apps that have been built around Twitter (like Summize, Twemes, Twhirl, etc.) They help solidify Twitter’s position. But they’re all actually a RESULT of Twitter’s leadership, not the cause of it.

The reason Twitter still stands as the top choice for the #1 choice of micro-blogging for New Media marketing goes much deeper than coding, apps or APIs.

It’s all about seduction…

Three Tribal Seduction™ principles keeping Twitter at #1

Let’s take a look at the real reasons for Twitter’s current ability to fend off all comers, and see how you can apply these lessons in your own business.

1) Fantasy (or “story”)

Twitter, Tweets, the Twitter Fail Whale and the entire cast of cartoon-like characters in Twitterland — they all make using Twitter fun. It’s engaging and entertaining.

It’s a fantasy land where you can make up your own stories.

2) Insider language

If you use Twitter you’ve probably grown accustomed to using terminology like Twemes, TwitCast, TwitAholic, follow, @, DM’s, and more.

It’s an environment we can escape into using a language that “outsiders” just don’t understand. That’s key in Tribal Seduction for the same reason it’s key to the power of cults. It makes members of the Tribe “insiders.” You’re in-the-know and everyone else is on the outside.

But most importantly…

3) The Tribal Factor™

The Tribal Factor™ is something that’s bigger than you, your product or your service.

It can be a movement (like the “green” movement.)

It can be an ideological-based loyalty (like Apple / Mac users.)

It can be a life-enhancing value that’s accessed and reinforced by subconscious social beliefs. (Like Twitter, where connection and attention are attained AND retained by popularity. Much like your high-school days.)

Of course it can be all three blended together, which is even more powerful. Event then the Tribal Factor™ is much deeper than these individual approaches, but they at least give you a good idea.

The bottom line is —

Seduction trumps function every time!

Benefits. Functionality. Value.

BLAH! Fagedaboudit!
Go flush that crap down the toilet!

Listen, true value only comes when you take a core function (open source or proprietary), add a human interface that leverages embedded psychological triggers and wrap it all in a blanket of Tribal interaction.

At a quick example to really bring it home

A service like identi.ca is the result of the typical left-brain dominated techie-geek mindset of the open source community. Plurk tries to be different, but its interface looks like the result of a night coding by some drugged-up hippie programmer. Jaiku, well we won’t even go there.

The bottom line is in all the cases of Twitter wanna-be competitors, they’re missing critical Tribal Marketing principles. The story, the language, the Tribal Factor, the embedded social triggers — they’re all missing!

Why loyalty is king of the hill

All three of these Tribal Seduction™ principles have more impact on loyalty than you can imagine. Twitter has attracted, seduced, and gained the loyalty of a Tribe.

And that’s pretty powerful when you consider the fact that users of Twitter experience regular downtime and frustrating “Fail Whales.”

The Twitter Twibe may have many bands and clans within it. And many will test competitive services as they come along. But they’ll only leave Twitter when the rides at another amusement park are more fun and exciting.

The question you have to answer for yourself is —

how will you seduce your Tribe and turn your marketing, brand and business into an amusement park your Loyals will rave about for life?
